Editorial Standards

The Reliance exists to give the people who run dental practices clear, accurate and genuinely useful analysis of the business of dentistry. This page explains how our articles are made, checked and corrected.

Independence

We publish no sponsored content, advertorials or pay-to-play coverage. Coverage is never sold, and no third party approves our articles before publication. Where a story concerns a company or product, we say so plainly and without promotion.

How our articles are researched and written

Each piece begins with primary sources — regulator notices, official guidance, company statements and reputable trade reporting. Our editorial process deliberately examines a story from several angles — clinical, practice-ownership, commercial and sceptical — so the finished analysis is balanced rather than one-note.

Human review and sign-off

No article is published automatically. Every piece is reviewed and signed off by a named, GDC-registered dental professional before it appears on the site, who is accountable for the accuracy and fairness of what we publish. Our current reviewer is David Hinckley, a Clinical Dental Technician (GDC No. 150038) who holds a Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2011). We plan to add further named dental professionals as the publication grows.

Sourcing and originality

We report facts in our own words and never reproduce source prose. Claims of substance are attributed and linked to their source. Where something is our interpretation rather than an established fact, we say so in the text, rather than presenting opinion as fact.

Accuracy and corrections

We take accuracy seriously and hedge genuine uncertainty rather than overstate it. If we get something wrong, we will correct it promptly and note material corrections. To flag a possible error, please get in touch.

Not professional advice

The Reliance provides general information and analysis for dental-business decision-makers. It is not legal, financial, regulatory or clinical advice and should not be relied on as such. Always take specific professional advice for your own situation.
